Post-post-postmortem: 1 year later
Man, it's been over a year since I joined Vampire the Masquerade Game Jam and released this game - flesh - my first game. Looking back, it has so many issues: being a visual novel that lacks character sprites; being a game that takes place in the lore-heavy World of Darkness' Vampire the Masquerade world, yet it has no codex system or provided any explanations to the many terminologies used in game, making it utterly unfriendly to players who are not familiar with the setting.
The images are dark, I needed to turn up my screen brightness to made out any details. Worse yet, some generative images made its way into my stock photo folder and ended up in parts of the game. It has been rid off now, but still....
x 1000000 face palms.
Regardless, I learned a lot during the development of this project. Time and project management. Graphic design and Photomanipulation. I think I did well regarding the fonts and user interface. It's simple, clear, the fonts used was limited to two and thus, created quite a consistent look. The game is short (5 minutes or more per playthrough), and the ending is even shorter, but I'm glad I was able to finish writing it.
A small win is a win. Not too bad for a programmer who branched out.
Flawed as it was, this is still my solo-gamedev-enture firstborn.
Here's to more in the future.
